I was tested as a child and tested again as an adult and my IQ has not changed over the years. The result… 148. I am not exceptionally smart and I do not hold any high position in any career, unless you can gauge that of motherhood. I do the best I can in life with what I have available to me. I am creative and resourceful but I do not strive to be anything other than a good person and a positive part of my local community.
I do not agree with other Americans when they say they want “someone like us” to be in the White House. I do not think the office of the President should be filled with an “average American.” I think this position should be reserved for someone special, someone extraordinary and I believe this person should have a higher IQ than myself. Or, at the very least, well above average.
I do not believe my IQ is exceptionally high, although I realize it is above average. I also do not think that someone with an average IQ cannot strive to be anything they want to be. All you have to do is put your mind to it. The power of the mind is an incredible thing. But if you had the choice between someone average and someone exceptional, why would you choose an average person to hold the highest position in the country? The idea is ridiculous.
I, for one, do not want to accept average ideas and average causes on a national level when, we as a whole, can be so much more. And at a time when we have tarnished our good country’s name globally I believe we need to strive for more. How can we accept anything less? Whatever happened to American’s wanting to be “ahead of the game?” Whatever happened to us, as a nation, striving to be the “leaders of the world?”
Have we all become so selfish that we don’t see anything outside our own personal addictions? Or do we believe that we will always be the “leaders of the world” no matter what we do? Well, let me be the first to tell you, it will take a lot more than what we’re accomplishing now in order to maintain that position. Especially when other country’s have less respect for us now than they did even 10 years ago.
It doesn’t even matter how we got here. Looking back, we only need to be aware of what we did wrong and learn from it and then move forward. Being aware is all it takes. And having an exceptional leader that is honest and true will help us move in that direction. But it is still up to each individual. Remember, we are what makes up the whole. A leader only guides the way.
I think we have forgotten what sacrifice is and this is something one should never forget. I do not believe we, as a whole, have experienced much sacrifice in recent history, if even at all. Now is the time to start experiencing it. It will be unpleasant and it will be tough, but it is necessary. If we keep the important matters at hand and always focus and be aware, there is nothing we can’t accomplish as a nation.
An average American will have the chance to be President one day when the time is right. Although now is not the time for "average." Now is the time for "exceptional." Can we afford to accept anything less than that?
I created this blog so that I can rant about different subjects that I read about and/or think about. Comments are encouraged whether you agree or disagree. Either way, please enjoy and thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings...
